Tikal

1.5 hr drive by private minibus to Tikal. What an amazing archeological site. We had a 4 hour guided tour, which involved a lot of walking but also free time to explore the ruins ourselves. What makes this site special is it's size, Tikal was the largest Mayan city of them all (that we know of so far). It's also special that everything is in the middle of the jungle, and many buildings that haven't been fully excavated are covered in vegetation. There's a lot of wildlife, and we saw monkeys and crocodiles. It's also unique in that visitors are allowed to climb so many of the temples.
